No catchy subject, just random thoughts
Sep. 20th, 2005 10:23 amI like being out at the festival again. Alot of us that have been doing KC for so long, can remember the way it was, and secretly (and for some not so secretly) wish it could go back to the "good ol' days". I know I certainly do. I can remember the days when there were so many street characters that no matter where you looked you saw them. I discovered this weekend that the world is even smaller than I had imagined. Rod asked how I came to be out at faire, so I told him about my first season working at the Gaol (pronounced jail), and about Jamie the guy that owned the gaol. That led to Rod telling me about Jamie and what he knew about him, which in turn led to the Duke of Dink and his "games" of skill and the year they got busted for playing dice with patrons in the lane. We laughed about the two of them remembering the days when the faire had a life of its own. Rod was telling stories about Danny Lord and all the trouble he caused. Reason I bring this up is that I have now heard three legacy acts say that they are getting too old to do this anymore and are considering retiring within a few years. Wonder who will carry the torch when they are gone...
Other news Dani just IM'd me to say that Claire is running a 101 temp. Looks like I get to take the afternoon off. It's not that I mind much I didn't do anything here yesterday and this morning is looking to be pretty slow too. Just waiting for FedEx to show up with our order.
More later if I get the time or the gumption.
