Wife swap??
Sep. 13th, 2005 03:05 pmSo I'm checking my email this afternoon, and I have a message from "Elizabeth Stafford" and the subject line is "ABC's 'Wife Swap' Needs YOUR Help". Now typically I send stuff like this to the garbage as soon as I see it, but for some reason this time I'm intrigued. It came through a secure email address that verifies the sender before it reaches my inbox, so I can be pretty sure it came from who it says it did. I also checked the website for the show just to be sure it's not a hoax. Here's the text "Does your family do reenactments? Do you teach others about the Civil War or Renaissance through these reenactments? Would you like the chance to show the rest of America how your family lives?"
I already forwarded it on to my dear wife, who, after she got done laughing told me to "go for it, it's only for 10 days". Knowing what we do about some people that no longer work the festival, and their habit of living faire away from faire, she is now reconsidering that thought. Of course if you've kept up with
renniemom's journal you'll know I worry about money and where it go to and comes from probably too much. the thing that caught my attention is the $20K honorarium if chosen and the $1000 for referring a family that gets chosen. I may sign up just to see if they pick us. Who knows, do I really want to deal with another woman in my life, even if it is only 10 days? Probably not.
