pastmagic: (SILENCE!!)
Many will write about this weekend and the soggy mess that it was, so I will refrain. I did wonder during the morning meeting when Peterson had installed the swimming pool at the back gate. I will however say that Saturday did not turn out as bad as we were expecting. The small audiences we had at our shows were at least responsive. After our last show Saturday, we cut out early to get to another gig at the Lineman's Convention at the OP Convention Center. I did magic for the line waiting to get into the Banquet and Awards Ceremony. I talked to many people from around the country from as far away as Miami, Florida and Los Angeles, CA to a particular international guest from the UK wearing a kilt. I returned home about 9:30pm and the bottoms of my feet and knees were throbbing from being on my feet all day.

Sunday started out better for us, but most of our audiences were once again in la la land. Every show we had one or two people that were laughing and applauding, but most were sitting there like we were actors on a movie screen. Finally, our last show of the day, the audience gelled nicely and we were able to once again get the audience involved.

My biggest gripe about this weekend: Did anybody else notice they raised the price of all the food another fifty cents between last week and this week?? I know it's not a problem for me or for most of the preformers I know since we bring our own food, but it still irks me.
Smaller gripe: I know management has some one counting the audience at all of the shows, my problem is that this person doesn't count during the middle of our show, once the audience has established itself, but instead chooses to count at the very beginning of the show or even while were getting set up before we've even begun hawking the show.
