Linemans Convention
Sep. 10th, 2008 11:00 amRod (Dr Dumpe) and I will being doing hospitality for the Lineman's Convention at the Overland Park Convention Center Saturday night. Since we are expected to be there by 6pm we'll be cutting out of the Festival early, and judging by the weather report this shouldn't be a problem. I've never done this type of event, other than a themed Christmas dinner for the Kawasaki employees in Maryville, MO, so I'm a little apprehensive of what will be expected from me. I do know that I'll be handing out swag, and doing some walk around magic for people waiting in the buffet lines. My conundrum is that I prefer my magic big and for the stage and I'm going out of my comfort zone to do smaller more "intimate" effects that I don't normally do. And just so you know, it's not that some of the bigger effects won't work in a smaller setting it's just that I haven't done them like that in quite a while. We're contracted to be there until 9pm but I've been told that once they start the video presentation we can cut out early, possibly as early as 8:15, so it should be a fairly quick night.
