Good-bye L.C.
Feb. 7th, 2006 11:55 pmJust a few quick thoughts.
Tonight was the memorial service for good friend and fellow magician L.C. Collier. www.lccollier.com
Although sad in it's own right, because he is no longer with us. I'm very happy he went quick and at the top of his game. As my dear wife pointed out, everybody that talked of L.C. used the same word again and again, "gentle". He truely was a "gentle" man. Always there to help anyone that needed it, never expecting anything in return. Often it was said that he loved the joy he brought children, when he was Santa. I'll relay this story from tonight. Richard R. said that years ago he had hired L.C. as a magician for a company Christmas party, and the company had one of their employees playing the part of Santa (with the glued on beard). The children kept coming up to L.C. and saying, "We know your the real Santa." And L.C. in his gentle way would bring his finger to his mouth and shush them quietly and tell them not to tell. Apparently L.C. was often approached in grocery stores, shopping centers, or wherever he was (not in costume) by children that believed he was Santa.
L.C. went out like a supernova. Bright and radiating energy to every one he met, even to the end.
Goodbye dear friend, I'll see you again someday.
